How we use your information
When you donate, buy a raffle ticket or make a Gift Aid declaration, we collect the details you give us (such as your name, email and address) so we can process your gift, claim Gift Aid where you've asked us to, and keep you updated about the work you're supporting. We never sell your data. You can ask us to update or delete your details at any time by emailing hello@glowcharity.com.
Payments
Payments are handled securely by PayPal. We never see or store your card details. Donations are sent direct to the school in Kenya; no UK costs are deducted from your gift.
Gift Aid
If you make a Gift Aid declaration, you confirm you are a UK taxpayer and that you pay enough Income or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount all charities reclaim on your donations in the tax year. Gift Aid cannot be claimed on raffle or lottery ticket purchases.
Our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on: your consent for keeping you updated and for processing a Gift Aid declaration; legitimate interests for administering donations and our relationship with supporters; and legal obligation for the records HMRC requires us to keep when we claim Gift Aid.
How long we keep it
Where you've made a Gift Aid declaration, HMRC requires us to keep the related records for at least six years after the end of the tax year they relate to. Other supporter details are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, and then deleted.
Who we share it with
We share only what's necessary: PayPal processes payments; HMRCreceives the donor details on any Gift Aid claim; and our website and database are hosted by reputable providers on our behalf. We never sell your data or share it for marketing.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@glowcharity.com. If you withdraw a Gift Aid declaration, we'll stop claiming on future donations (we may still need to keep past records to satisfy HMRC). If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. This site only uses strictly necessary cookies — a secure session cookie that lets our administrators sign in, and cookies set by PayPal when you make a payment, to keep that transaction secure. These are essential to services you ask for, so under the UK's PECR rules they don't require a consent banner.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever add tools like Google Analytics in future, we'll show a cookie banner asking your permission first, with an equally easy way to say no.
